Although the term homesteading actually refers to a parcel of land with a home and buildings, it has become an identifier for those who choose to live a self-sufficient lifestyle, often tending gardens, orchards, and animals to supply their food. Most homesteaders find caring for large animals, like cattle, horses, or pigs, to be one of their favorite activities when living this type of lifestyle. Unfortunately, however, these animals, often called livestock, can suffer fatal injuries and illnesses, making proper disposal of their carcass a time-sensitive issue.
